Cleveland Municipal Court Marriage Records
Cleveland Municipal Court judges may perform civil wedding ceremonies for residents of the City of Cleveland and the Village of Bratenahl, but the court does not hold marriage records. Instead, marriage-related records, such as marriage license applications and the licenses themselves, are under the custody of the Cuyahoga County Probate Court.
Individuals can use Cuyahoga County's Docket and Index Search platform to look up marriage records. The system allows site users to search for marriage cases by case number or party name. It displays marriage license information, including the case title (featuring the applicants' names), filing date, assigned judge, case status, license issuance date, and date of marriage. Printed certified copies can also be requested from the results page.
To request certified copies of a marriage license by mail, record seekers can fill out the Certified Copy of Marriage License Request Form and send it to
